  • Settled a Washington, D.C. owner’s dispute with its architect for a significant design flaw in a special use facility


  • Selected as a party-appointed arbitrator to interpret lease  commencement obligations and "go dark" provisions in several different leases among a large publicly-traded regional grocery store chain and a regional developer and to resolve the related lease disputes (>$50 million aggregate value)

  • Served as party-appointed arbitrator to interpret a  ground lease's complex rent re-set provision and to resolve the related ground lease dispute between a national labor union real estate investment fund, as the ground lessor, and a major Northern Virginia multi-family property owner, as the ground lessee, concerning one of Northern Virginia’s largest multi-family residential apartment complexes


  • Settled a Colorado owner’s claim against its environmental consultants ($400 million resort project)


  • Provided real estate-related litigation advice to the seller of major New York City and Beverly Hills hotels

  • Represented a limited partner in resolving the real estate and tax aspects of its dispute with its general partner’s improper self-allocation of extra UPREIT shares in exchange for its consenting to the partnership’s sale of its multi-family holdings to a large national multi-family REIT

  • Represented a limited partner in resolving the real estate and tax aspects of its dispute with its general partner’s converting/renovating the partnership’s parking garage and below-grade retail space, without paying fair compensation to the partnership, such that a 300-unit condominium project (with a below-grade lobby) could be constructed above the garage using air-rights owned separately by the general partner’s principal
